Another new series here at the Brush and Boltgun is our army showcase. Like our Model showcase we aim to show off our own armies and even some guest armies in the future.

This week’s army is my Warhammer 40,000 Imperial Fists. They started as using up spare parts from my Crimson Fists army (you’ll see these guys in the future), and having a go at painting yellow Space Marines.

I entered these in my local Games Workshop’s Armies on Parade competition and got bronze, which I was pretty happy with.

Below is a shot of the full competition entry. This isn’t every model in the army, but I will show the others off in future model showcase features:


The yellow was painted by basecoating them in Citadel Averland Sunset, then giving them a liberal wash of Citadel Seraphim Sepia. I then layered with Averland Sunset, leaving the sepia in the recesses, and did an edge highlight with Citadel Yriel Yellow.

That’s it. It’s really that simple to paint yellow.
